Communion with one another

According to a recent report from the Evangelical Alliance, the three most significant reasons why people began to consider the claims of Christianity are:

  1. “I needed help with life”
  2. “I was looking for meaning”
  3. “A difficult or painful experience”

If you have been following Jesus and an active member of his Church for a long time, it can be easy to forget the blessing of knowing where to go for the answers to these things. Our own family has been greatly helped by God’s people over the years. To be a Christian is, or at least should be, to wake each day secure in the knowledge that you have a place in God’s plans and that his plans are good. It is to know that even our difficult seasons and times of pain are pointing us to the One who suffered on our behalf that we might know life and love and joy in him.

As you contemplate Christ’s wisdom this week, particularly Proverbs 3:11-20, consider the great gift he has given you in the church that you are a part of. Each week is the opportunity to gather with those who have become like family because we share an older Brother and have the same Father. Each week, we share in the meal our Lord gave us to enjoy him and one another. Each week we get to be reminded that no matter what, we are secure in him, heading for a blessed end.

Notices

  • Again, keep in mind that our weekly prayer meeting is on hiatus for the month of July.
  • Save the date for 6 September at 5pm, for the commissioning of Pastor Dan and the church as a whole to continuing in ministry together. We will be joined by Jonathan Gemmell, who will be our guest preacher for that evening. Along with the service, there will be a celebration meal to follow.
  • Be praying for The Journey, a new gathering for anyone in their 20s and 30s. We will be launching this on 4 September and will begin with Life Explored.
