Help in prayer

Each new day is another opportunity to experience communion with God through prayer. Yesterday evening, we had a great discussion during our Sunday Night Fireside about prayer. We shared about why prayer can be difficult, what is distinctly Christian about our prayers, and how we can grow as individuals and as a church in our prayer lives.

One way that was mentioned is a resource which has been shared at a previous Tuesday Night Prayer.

If you’ve ever struggled to know where to start in prayer or you worry about praying for the “right thing”, know that you have a God who is gracious, kind, and generous. He has given you a prayer book by giving you his word.

Now, it might be a bit daunting to know how to begin praying through a book like Genesis or Judges, but in the Psalms we have prayers and songs and meditations handed down to us. There we find words of praise and thanksgiving, mourning and lament, victory and defeat, supplication and declaration.

And so I commend to you the “Psalms of the Day” prayer guide. It’s completely free and provided by Dr. Donald Whitney and Crossway (publishers of the ESV Bible which we use in our teaching ministry here at Ardgowan).

Notices

During the month of July, we are taking a break from Tuesday Night Prayer but it that evening is still a great opportunity to practice praying the Bible.

Remember again, that Praise In The Park will be happening on the 19th from 3-4pm (weather permitting).
