What’s an evangelical church?
Being evangelical means that we believe the Bible really is God’s word. We believe that it is true and we believe that the message contained within its pages is life changing.
Being evangelical means that we believe that salvation is found in Christ alone. You can find out more about this here.
Being evangelical means that we seek to tell people about Jesus in our local community. We are located in Greenock West, a short walk from Greenock West Station and the Tontine Hotel. We’d love for you to visit us.
Our History
Around the year 1871, a group of eight Christians met at the home of Mr and Mrs Thomas Black – the founder of Black’s Tentmakers.
In 1977, after meeting in various locations, the Church moved into its current building on Ardgowan Square and the name was changed to Ardgowan Square Evangelical Church. Since then, the Church has sought to tell the local community about Jesus. That mission carries on to this day.
In 2022, the Church called its first pastor in partnership with Cornhill Scotland.
In 2023, we joined the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches.
