Last Tuesday, we spent some time looking at Titus 2:11-14 and it was a really fruitful and encouraging time. As Paul writes to Titus, he instructs him to “teach what accords with sound doctrine.” Meaning, teach the truth to the church in Crete, true belief and true behaviour.
We learned that it’s really easy to fall into one of two traps: believing that you have to be good to be saved or believing that salvation means you can live however you want. Anyone holding those views would find themselves corrected by Paul’s instruction, as he explains this:
For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works. (ESV)
The gospel trains people to live godly lives and the gospel saves people so that they can live godly lives. May you be encouraged to learn from God’s word how you might live your life, not in order to earn your salvation but because God has already saved you.
Tuesday Night Prayer is happening in person in the Side Hall at the church at 7:30pm. Our prayer gathering is an encouraging time of fellowship, Bible discussion, and prayer together. This week, Douglas will be leading our Bible teaching, looking at Titus 3.

The Men’s Breakfast is happening on Saturday, 7 Feb at 8am. It’ll be a great time of food, fellowship, and learning about Christian courage and the sin of cowardice. If you’re planning to attend, please sign up using the Google Form so that we can make the necessary arrangements for food.
As mentioned last week, there’s no The Journey this week as the church is hosting the Inverclyde Music Festival. Be in prayer that, even as young people are performing, those in the audience might wonder why we would have “Jesus Christ is Lord” stuck on our wall.
